Spring units maintain individual springs in position regardless of whether the tool is assembled or disassembled. Initial tension can be simply used up because each spring can be individually pre-tensioned. This avoids having to work against the force of the entire spring unit during assembly.

A die spring is a highly engineered mechanical spring with specific wire designs that stores energy elastically by resisting movement when pressure is applied. The desired wire segment is selected to produce the maximum amount of force within a minimal amount of space.
